The effect of tracer contact on return to care among adult, lost to follow-up patients living with HIV in Zambia: an instrumental variable analysis

Laura K. Beres et al.

Summary: Tracing lost to follow-up HIV patients did not significantly increase their return to care, but may speed up the return of truly disengaged patients. Further studies are needed to improve the effectiveness of tracing and target truly disengaged patients.

Effects of implementing universal and rapid HIV treatment on initiation of antiretroviral therapy and retention in care in Zambia: a natural experiment using regression discontinuity

Aaloke Mody et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the real-world effectiveness of universal HIV treatment policies implemented in Zambia in 2017. It found that the policies led to increased ART initiation and retention rates, but overall retention remained suboptimal. The implementation of universal treatment reduced disparities in treatment initiation across patient subgroups, but did not impact 12-month retention on ART.
