Fermented soybean meal modified the rumen microbiome to enhance the yield of milk components in Holstein cows

Abdulmumini Baba Amin et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the effects of fermented soybean meal (FSBM) supplementation on rumen microbiota, milk composition, and milk component yields in Holstein cows. The results showed that FSBM increased milk protein yield and milk fat yield, while decreasing milk somatic cell count. In addition, FSBM supplementation altered the composition and functionality of rumen bacteria, leading to the improved synthesis of certain essential amino acids. Future studies should investigate the effects of FSBM on other rumen microbiomes and milk protein synthesis in the mammary gland in Holstein cows using advanced technologies.

Enzymes and microorganisms jointly promote the fermentation of rapeseed cake

Yujie Song et al.

Summary: Adding enzymatic preparation to the fermentation of rapeseed cake improves microbial diversity and enhances the conversion efficiency of macromolecules. Enzymatic fermentation also promotes the transformation of rapeseed cake, increasing the production of small molecular metabolites.

Effects of different levels of rapeseed cake containing high glucosinolates in steer ration on rumen fermentation, nutrient digestibility and the rumen microbial community

Jian Gao et al.

Summary: Increasing levels of dietary rapeseed cake (RSC) with high glucosinolates (GLS) affected rumen fermentation, nutrient digestion, and the rumen microbial community in steers. The results showed changes in ruminal concentration of thiocyanate, ammonia nitrogen, molar proportion of isovalerate, crude protein digestibility, and ether extract digestibility. The study also revealed shifts in bacterial diversity and richness with increasing RSC levels in the diet.

The Effect of Different Concentrations of Total Polyphenols from Paulownia Hybrid Leaves on Ruminal Fermentation, Methane Production and Microorganisms

Julia Puchalska et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of polyphenol-rich Paulownia hybrid leaves on in vitro ruminal fermentation, methane production, and microbial populations. The results showed that leaves with high polyphenol content reduced methane production, while the decrease in methane production in twigs was mainly attributed to decreased substrate degradability.

Recovery of Nitrogen from Low-Cost Plant Feedstocks Used for Bioenergy: A Review of Availability and Process Order

Hengameh Bayat et al.

Summary: Research has shown that more attention to the recovery and utilization of proteins and other nitrogen-containing components could lead to the use of lower-cost feedstocks for the production of biofuels and biobased chemicals. Studies have summarized the challenges and opportunities of extracting and purifying proteins and other nitrogen-containing compounds from low-cost lignocellulosic biomass before conversion to fuel.

Evaluating the Inclusion of Cold-Pressed Rapeseed Cake in the Concentrate for Dairy Cows upon Ruminal Biohydrogenation Process, Ruminal Microbial Community and Milk Production and Acceptability

Idoia Goiri et al.

Summary: This trial aimed to assess the effect of feeding a concentrate including cold-pressed rapeseed cake (CPRC) on various aspects of dairy cattle, including their productive performance, milk quality and sensory properties, ruminal biohydrogenation, and bacterial communities. The results showed that feeding CPRC affected microbial taxa, modified the biohydrogenation process, improved the milk fatty acid profile and consumer acceptance without detrimental effects on milk production and composition.

Heat stress on microbiota composition, barrier integrity, and nutrient transport in gut, production performance, and its amelioration in farm animals

Amlan Kumar Patra et al.

Summary: Heat stress can affect the gut microbiota composition, mucosal structure, immune responses, and production performance in farm animals, ultimately leading to reduced feed intake and productivity. The exact mechanisms of how these biological responses are influenced by heat stress still need to be further elucidated.
