Metal-organic framework ZIF-8 for exceptional HCl removal from Hydrogen gas by reaction

Ravi Sharma et al.

Summary: This study reports the performance of ZIF-8 metal organic framework in removing hydrogen chloride (HCl) in hydrogen gas production. The measurements show that ZIF-8 outperforms traditional materials and previous metal-organic frameworks in terms of HCl removal capacity under dynamic conditions. Characterization of ZIF-8 before and after HCl contact reveals significant changes in its textural, structural, and chemical properties, with the MOF material undergoing a reaction and re-crystallizing into a salt complex.

Efficient Separation of Trace SO2 from SO2/CO2/N2 Mixtures in a Th-Based MOF

Wenhui Zhang et al.

Summary: The emission of sulfur dioxide from flue gases is harmful to human health and the environment. Developing new metal organic frameworks to capture this toxic molecule is important in flue gas desulfurization. The newly synthesized MOF, ECUT-Th-60, exhibits higher uptakes of SO2 compared to CO2 and N-2 under the same conditions, making it promising for the separation of SO2 from gas mixtures.

Efficient Purification of Ethylene from C2 Hydrocarbons with an C2H6/C2H2-Selective Metal-Organic Framework

Shan-Qing Yang et al.

Summary: The separation of ethylene (C2H4) from C-2 hydrocarbons is challenging, but the newly synthesized microporous Mg-based MOF NUM-9 shows promise with high stability and selectivity for C2H6/C2H2. NUM-9a, when activated, demonstrates good performance in separating C2H6/C2H2 from raw ethylene gases, and its unique structure allows for the selective adsorption of C2H6 and C2H2 simultaneously, leading to a greener and more energy-efficient separation strategy for separating C2H4 from C-2 hydrocarbon mixtures.

25 Years of Reticular Chemistry

Ralph Freund et al.

Summary: The core of reticular chemistry has brought precision and expertise of organic and inorganic synthesis to the solid state. The most profound scientific innovation of this field has been the design strategies for the synthesis of extended crystalline solids through strong directional bonds, highlighting the different classes of reticular materials developed and how complexity can be introduced into their backbones. Structural control over these materials is being extended from the molecular scale to their crystal morphology and shape on the nanoscale, all the way to their shaping on the bulk scale.
