Superradiance and Directional Exciton Migration in Metal-Organic Frameworks

Sreehari Surendran Rajasree et al.

Summary: Crystalline metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) serve as promising synthetic analogues of photosynthetic light-harvesting complexes (LHCs) with unique photophysical behaviors including multilinker molecular excitons and super-radiance. The size of multilinker excitons depends on the electronic symmetry of the linker, and the predicted energy transfer rate constant and anisotropy of exciton displacement align well with experimental data. These findings are crucial for the design of low-density solar energy conversion systems by positioning catalysts or electrodes relative to linker orientation.

Summary: Metal-organic nanotubes (MONTs) have shown great potential for various applications, including gas storage and separation, catalysis, sensing, magnetism, and drug delivery. This study investigated the electrical conductivity and photoconductivity of two isostructural MONTs. The results demonstrated that evacuating the porous channels significantly increased the electrical conductivity of MONTs, with Zn-Zn-btc showing higher conductivity compared to Zn-Ni-btc. Additionally, both compounds exhibited photoconductivity at room temperature.

Optical-Pump Terahertz-Probe Spectroscopy of the Topological Crystalline Insulator Pb1-xSnxSe through the Topological Phase Transition

Zhenyang Xiao et al.

Summary: Topological crystalline insulators, which have properties guaranteed by crystalline symmetry, can be tuned in heterostructures and potentially used for terahertz optoelectronic devices. We performed the first optical-pump terahertz-probe spectroscopy to investigate the dynamics of Pb1-xSnxSe at different temperatures. Our experimental observations provide critical information for potential applications of Pb1-xSnxSe and directly measure the topological character of its heterostructures.

A Potential Roadmap to Integrated Metal Organic Framework Artificial Photosynthetic Arrays

Bradley Gibbons et al.

Summary: Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) are coordination polymers that have important applications in gas storage and separation. However, there are currently limitations in their use for light-MOF interactions and catalysis, including diffusion, selectivity, lack of integrated studies, and stability issues. Addressing these limitations is crucial for the development of fully integrated MOF-based assemblies for artificial photosynthesis.

Design Strategies for Enhanced Conductivity in Metal-Organic Frameworks

Eric M. Johnson et al.

Summary: Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a class of materials with permanent porosity, high surface area, and crystallinity, offering potential for a wide range of applications, particularly in conductive materials. The continued development of conductive MOFs has led to a growing library of materials with conductivity, while factors affecting conductivity in MOFs have become more apparent. Pathways to enhance conductivity across a variety of MOF structures are being explored in fundamental studies derived from proposed methods.
