A Facile, Efficient, and General Synthetic Method to Amide-Linked Covalent Organic Frameworks

Zhi-Bei Zhou et al.

Summary: Amide-linked covalent organic frameworks (amide COFs) have great potential in practical applications due to their high stability and polyamide structures. However, their accessibility is limited. In this study, a new linkage conversion method using KHSO5 as an oxidant was developed to rapidly synthesize crystalline amide COFs under mild conditions. This approach is general, facile, efficient, and scalable, allowing for easy production of amide COFs from widely available imine-linked COFs.

Porous covalent organic nanotubes and their assembly in loops and toroids

Kalipada Koner et al.

Summary: This study reports the synthesis of covalently bonded porous organic nanotubes (CONTs) with high thermal and chemical stability. Under ultrasonication, these CONTs form intertwined structures that eventually coil to form toroidal superstructures. Computational studies provide insight into the solvent effect on this assembly process.

Covalent Organic Frameworks for Carbon Dioxide Capture from Air

Hao Lyu et al.

Summary: This study reports the covalent incorporation of reactive aliphatic amine species into covalent organic frameworks (COFs) for the first time. Through crystallization and chemical reactions, tris(3-aminopropyl)amine was successfully incorporated into COF-609, resulting in a significant enhancement in CO2 uptake capacity.

Regioselective Synthesis of 2-Aryl-5-cyano-1-(2-hydroxyaryl)-1H-imidazole-4-carboxamides Self-Assisted by a 2-Hydroxyaryl Group

Fabio Pedroso de Lima et al.

Summary: We have developed a simple and efficient method for the synthesis of highly substituted nitrogen heterocycles, which are valuable in drug discovery. Computational studies have revealed that the regioselectivity of the reaction is driven by the 2-hydroxyaryl group, leading to the formation of imidazole derivatives.

Viscoelastic Covalent Organic Nanotube Fabric via Macroscopic Entanglement

Kalipada Koner et al.

Summary: Covalent organic nanotubes (CONTs) are one-dimensional porous frameworks constructed via dynamic covalent chemistry. Flexible and robust self-standing fabric has been successfully constructed using selected building blocks. The fabric has been characterized and its formation mechanism has been established. The synthesized fabric exhibits high mechanical strength and time-dependent elastic recovery.

Single crystals of mechanically entwined helical covalent polymers

Yiming Hu et al.

Summary: Single crystals of a helical covalent polymer have been synthesized from an achiral monomer through spiroborate formation, showing pairs of mechanically entwined polymers in each crystal and producing a racemic conglomerate during the crystallization process. No strong non-covalent interactions were observed between the two helical polymers forming a pair, indicating hydrogen bonding with neighbouring pairs instead.
