Ideality Factor Mapping of Back-Contact Perovskite Solar Cells

Kevin J. J. Rietwyk et al.

Summary: Time-dependent Suns-V-OC and Suns-photoluminescence analysis were used to study two different structures of back-contact perovskite solar cells. The presence of a mesoporous TiO2 layer was found to reduce recombination and increase the open-circuit voltage. 2D time-dependent drift-diffusion simulations were able to explain the experimental results and revealed the significant impact of non-uniform ion distribution on the photoluminescence intensity and ideality factor.

Role of Photon Recycling and Band Filling in Halide Perovskite Photoluminescence under Focussed Excitation Conditions

Aravindan Sridharan et al.

Summary: Researchers studied the evolution of charge carriers in hybrid perovskite thin films using a numerical model to simulate photoluminescence, experimentally analyzed spectral changes at different radial positions from the excitation spot center, and investigated the position-dependent spectral shift of waveguided photon energy. Results indicated that photon recycling plays a negligible role in enhancing lateral carrier spreading in typical micro-PL experiments with moderate carrier densities.

Efficient perovskite solar cells via improved carrier management

Jason J. Yoo et al.

Summary: Metal halide perovskite solar cells have shown great potential to disrupt the silicon solar cell market with their improved performance, yet still face limitations in light-harvesting due to charge carrier recombination. Efforts to enhance charge carrier management offer a path to increase device performance and approach the theoretical efficiency limit of PSCs.

Complementary interface formation toward high-efficiency all-back-contact perovskite solar cells

Kevin J. Prince et al.

Summary: All-back-contact (ABC) architectures for perovskite photovoltaics have untapped potential for higher efficiency and enhanced durability compared to conventional planar architectures, but require complex interface engineering to handle both electron and hole transport layers simultaneously. Developing complementary interface processing methods can help achieve higher efficiency in ABC perovskite solar cells.
