Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Death Associated With Severe Maternal Morbidity in the United States Failure to Rescue

Summary: This study analyzed racial and ethnic disparities in failure to rescue from severe maternal morbidity, finding higher rates among Black and other racial and ethnic groups, slightly lower among Hispanic women, with a significant increase in severe maternal morbidity rates in all groups but a decline starting in 2012. The study also noted a decrease in failure-to-rescue rates during the entire study period.
