Fluorescence anisotropy cytosensing of folate receptor positive tumor cells using 3D polyurethane-GO-foams modified with folic acid: molecular dynamics and in vitro studies

Yasaman Esmaeili et al.

Summary: This study developed PU-based foams modified with PEGylated graphene oxide and folic acid (PU@GO-PEG-FA) for the precise capture and detection of tumor cells. The interaction between folic acid and folate receptor was studied using molecular dynamics simulations. The results showed that the folate receptor has intense interactions with folic acid, leading to reduced interactions with PEG and decreased fluorescence intensity of the biosensor. The synergistic interactions allow the FA-modified foams to efficiently capture tumor cells.

Optical cytosensors for the detection of circulating tumour cells

Fereshteh Vajhadin et al.

Summary: Blood analysis is a well-established method for monitoring various diseases, including cancer. In recent years, the focus has shifted to the detection of circulating tumor cells (CTCs), which can provide valuable information about the cancer status. Optical cytosensors, such as colorimetry and fluorescence, have shown promising results in detecting CTCs. However, further research is needed to fully exploit their potential in cancer diagnostics and monitoring.
