Design and fabrication of reusable core-shell composite microspheres based on nanodiamond for selective enrichment of phosphopeptides

Shicong Jia et al.

Summary: A kind of core-shell composite microsphere with nano-on-micro structure was synthesized via grafting amine-modified nanodiamonds onto the surface of monodisperse nonporous polymeric microsphere. The resulting microsphere showed high efficiency and specificity in enriching phosphopeptides, and could be reused due to the strong chelation between titanium ions and pyrogallol ligands.

Altered Env conformational dynamics as a mechanism of resistance to peptide-triazole HIV-1 inactivators

Shiyu Zhang et al.

Summary: The study revealed that HIV-1 develops resistance to peptide triazoles by acquiring mutations in the gp120 protein which significantly alters the energetic landscape of the virus's prefusogenic state, hindering irreversible inactivation by the peptides. This unique mode of virus escape highlights the importance of conformational dynamics in HIV-1 resistance mechanisms.

A current view on Tau protein phosphorylation in Alzheimer's disease

Susanne Wegmann et al.

Summary: The functions of Tau in the central nervous system are regulated by various posttranslational modifications, with phosphorylation being widely recognized as a pathological hallmark in diseases like AD. However, the similarities and heterogeneity of phosphorylation patterns between physiological and pathological Tau make it challenging to identify specific modifications as therapeutic targets and biomarkers.

Design of Gd3+-immobilized two-dimensional magnetic magadiite nanosheets for highly selective enrichment of phosphopeptides

Dandan Jiang et al.

Summary: Exfoliated magadiite nanosheets embedded with Fe3O4 were utilized to prepare Gd3+-immobilized magnetic magadiite nanosheets as an adsorbent for phosphopeptides enrichment. The 2D morphology of the adsorbent provided high surface area and abundant Gd3+ contents, leading to efficient phosphopeptides capture with low detection limit and stable enrichment performance. Further evaluation demonstrated the capability of the nanocomposite to enrich phosphopeptides from various biological samples.
