Prevalence of Optic Disc Drusen in Young Patients With Nonarteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy: A 10-Year Retrospective Study

J. Alexander Fraser et al.

Summary: This study found a higher prevalence of optic disc drusen (ODD) in young patients with NAION than in the general population, with ODD usually being bilateral and buried. ODD may contribute to NAION pathogenesis by exacerbating an underlying compartment syndrome in the crowded disc at risk. Enhanced-depth imaging OCT (EDI-OCT) may be the best imaging modality for ODD detection in future studies.

Diagnosing Optic Disc Drusen in the Modern Imaging Era: A Practical Approach

Fiona Costello et al.

Summary: Optic disc drusen are a well-known cause of elevated optic disc appearance, sometimes requiring ancillary testing for diagnosis. Optical coherence tomography techniques can enhance diagnostic accuracy and play a crucial role in clinical settings.
