A-Variant Design of Hypersonic Ludwieg Tube Wind Tunnel

Zhiyuan Li et al.

Summary: This research explores the feasibility of a novel configuration of hypersonic Ludwieg tube, which improves the flow quality of conventional Ludwieg tubes by introducing an additional Laval nozzle and settling chamber while minimizing the impact on the tunnel's efficient running time.

Supersonic Freestream Density Fluctuations from Focused Laser Differential Interferometry and Pitot-Probe Measurements

Joel M. Lawson et al.

Summary: This study focuses on using focused laser differential interferometry (FLDI) to measure freestream density fluctuations. A comparison is made between FLDI measurements and pitot-probe measurements, with both converted to freestream pressure fluctuation spectra. The results show that FLDI can provide accurate quantitative data and extend the spectra beyond the pitot bandwidth.

Focused Laser Differential Interferometric Investigation of Turbulent Jet Spectra

Ahsan Hameed et al.

Summary: In this study, a new model of Focused Laser Differential Interferometry (FLDI) is derived by incorporating the local intensity of each beam in an FLDI beam pair. Known transfer functions are rederived and additional transfer functions are derived to model complex disturbance fields. Strategically selecting integration limits can simplify the FLDI data-reduction procedure. Experimental results indicate the merit of increasing the complexity of the transfer function, with some qualifications.
