Diastereoselective access to substituted oxetanes via hydrosilylation-iodocyclisation of homopropargylic alcohols

Dean D. Roberts et al.

Summary: The regio- and stereoselective hydrosilylation of various homopropargylic alcohols and their derivatives is discussed, which is tolerant towards different sterically and electronically substituted substrates and yields only the E-vinyl silane as the sole regioisomer. The application of the resulting vinyl silanes in the diastereoselective synthesis of tetrasubstituted oxetanes is demonstrated.

Regioselective Synthesis of Multifunctional Allylic Amines; Access to Ambiphilic Aziridine Scaffolds

Dean D. Roberts et al.

Summary: In this study, a highly regioselective hydrosilylation of propargylic amines was described for the first time. The reaction utilizes a PtCl2/XantPhos catalyst system to deliver hydrosilanes across the alkyne, resulting in multifunctional allylic amines in high yields. The reaction is tolerant to a wide variety of functional groups and provides high value intermediates with two distinct functional handles, as shown through the synthesis of diverse ambiphilic aziridines.

Iridium-catalyzed regioselective hydrosilylation of internal alkynes facilitated by directing and steric effects

Weiwei Gao et al.

Summary: The iridium-catalyzed hydrosilylation of internal alkynes was successfully achieved under simple and mild conditions. The functional groups of alkyne substrates played a crucial role in facilitating the reaction process and regioselectivity by coordinating with the iridium catalyst. Additionally, the use of steric trimethylsilyl-protected trihydroxysilane was essential for ensuring the efficient progress of the reaction.
