Fabrication of sea urchin-like Au@SiO2 nanoparticles SERS substrate for the determination of malachite green in tilapia

Yuqian Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, sea urchin-like Au@SiO2 nanoparticles (SG@SiO2 NPs) were designed and synthesized to improve the stability of surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) for the quantitative determination of malachite green (MG) in aquatic products. The SERS substrate showed good performance and could be used for the detection of trace amounts of MG in tilapia, demonstrating its potential in the field of food analysis.

A novel approach to prepare reticulated porous TiN ceramics with high strength and high porosity by in-situ synthesis

Li Tian et al.

Summary: In this study, high porosity titanium nitride was successfully prepared using a novel approach combining carbothermic reduction nitriding method and replication template method. The microstructure of the porous TiN prepared under different conditions were characterized using various techniques. The results showed that high purity and ideal strength porous TiN could be synthesized under specific conditions, and the synthesis path and thermodynamic mechanism were analyzed.

Effect of anatase-rutile phase ratio of titania photoanode on photoelectrochemical performance and photoconversion efficiency

Pujita Ningthoukhongjam et al.

Summary: Modification of photoanode is an emerging technique to improve the performance of Dye Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSCs). This study investigates the effect of anatase/rutile ratio on the charge transport properties and photoconversion efficiency of titania photoanodes. The results show that a photoanode with an A/R ratio of 1.44 exhibits the highest photoconversion efficiency.

Effect of silica-coating on crystal structure and magnetic properties of metallic nickel particles

Airi Tago et al.

Summary: A simple method has been developed to control the oxidation and aggregation of metallic particles, specifically metallic nickel particles in this study, through silica-coating. The oxidation of metallic particles was successfully controlled by the silica coating, and the Ni/SiO2 particles exhibited soft magnetic behavior at different annealing temperatures.

Spark plasma sinterability of TiC ceramics with different nitride additives

Abbas Sabahi Namini et al.

Summary: This research evaluated the impact of five nitride additives on TiC-based materials, showing that AlN enhanced relative density while Si3N4 had the most detrimental influence. Besides BN contributing to the finest microstructure, AlN had the greatest effect on thermal conductivity.
