Spin-photogalvanic effect in chiral lead halide perovskites

Ruiheng Pan et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the circular photogalvanic effect (CPGE) and linear photogalvanic effect (LPGE) in (R-MBA)(2)PbI4 and (S-MBA)(2)PbI4 thin film materials. These effects exhibit decent two-fold symmetry for a complete cycle in a wide temperature range from 4 K to 300 K. The effect can be effectively tuned by constant magnetic fields, and the Bychkov-Rashba spin orbit coupling and chiral-induced magnetization are responsible for it. This research shows the promising future of using chiral lead halide perovskites for spin-orbitronics.

Incomplete hetero-structure molecular layer enhancing room-temperature spin-photovoltaic performances

Yang Qin et al.

Summary: Molecular spin-photovoltaic device (MSP) integrates photovoltaic and spintronic functionalities and can modulate output signal, even achieving full spin polarization at room temperature using photo-generated voltage (Vph). To improve MSP performance, it is crucial to enhance Vph by increasing effective spin transport capability. However, the weak driving force of spin-photovoltaic interaction limits Vph's ability to modulate spin signal in current single-component MSP. In this study, an incomplete hetero-structure active layer is employed for the first time to construct a novel-designed MSP, leading to a more efficient working mechanism and greater potential for MSP in the future.

Chiral molecular intercalation superlattices

Qi Qian et al.

Summary: The discovery of chiral-induced spin selectivity (CISS) allows the manipulation of spin orientation without external magnetic fields, opening up new possibilities for spintronic device designs. However, current systems often suffer from issues such as high inhomogeneity, low spin selectivity, limited stability, and difficulties in forming robust spintronic devices. In this study, a new class of chiral molecular intercalation superlattices (CMIS) was developed as a solid-state chiral material platform for exploring CISS. The CMIS exhibited highly ordered superlattice structures and showed chirality-dependent signals, enabling the creation of spin-selective tunnelling junctions with significant tunnelling magnetoresistance ratio and spin polarization ratio. With the wide range of 2DACs and chiral molecules available, CMIS offer a rich family of artificial chiral materials to investigate the CISS effect and explore its potential for new spintronic devices.
