Significant Dark Current Suppression in Organic Photodetectors Using Side Chain Fluorination of Conjugated Polymer

Byoungwook Park et al.

Summary: The research shows that the fluorinated alkyl side chain of conjugated polymers has a significant impact on the performance of organic photodetectors, reducing dark current density and increasing external quantum efficiency. Fluorination of side chains leads to a more ordered molecular structure, reducing trap density and energetic disorder, which in turn enhances charge carrier mobility and detectivity.

Ternary-Assisted Sequential Solution Deposition Enables Efficient All-Polymer Solar Cells with Tailored Vertical-Phase Distribution

Feng-Zhe Cui et al.

Summary: This study adopts a ternary-assisted sequential solution deposition strategy to regulate the vertical compositional profile of all-polymer solar cells (all-PSCs). A favorable acceptor(donor)-enriched phase near the cathode(anode) can be obtained by this strategy, resulting in enhanced exciton yield and carrier density. Non-geminate recombination is suppressed by improving the exciton diffusion length. This study demonstrates the success of the ternary-assisted strategy in reorganizing the vertical-phase distribution, providing a feasible route for efficient all-polymer photovoltaics.

Infrared Organic Photodetectors Employing Ultralow Bandgap Polymer and Non-Fullerene Acceptors for Biometric Monitoring

Polina Jacoutot et al.

Summary: Recent research in organic photodetectors (OPD) has focused on extending broadband detection into the near-infrared (NIR) region. In this study, two blends of a low bandgap polymer, TQ-T, with non-fullerene acceptors, IEICO-4F and Y6, were compared for their ability to sense NIR light beyond 1100 nm. The TQ-T:IEICO-4F device showed superior infrared responsivity and could detect light up to 1800 nm, while the TQ-T:Y6 blend had lower responsivity. Device physics analysis and spectroscopic studies revealed that the superior performance of TQ-T:IEICO-4F OPD was due to faster charge separation and improved donor-acceptor domain mixing.
