Tailoring the Void Space Using Nanoreactors on Carbon Fibers to Confine SnS2 Nanosheets for Ultrastable Lithium/Sodium-Ion Batteries

Zhe Cui et al.

Summary: In this study, a rational design of SnS2 nanosheets confined into bubble-like carbon nanoreactors anchored on N, S doped carbon nanofibers (SnS2@C/CNF) was proposed to prepare self-standing electrodes. The SnS2@C/CNF provides stable support and enhanced ion and electron transport, alleviates aggregation and volume expansion of SnS2 nanosheets, and promotes the formation of abundant exposed edges and active sites. Additionally, the doping of N, S elements improves the electrical conductivity and wettability of the whole electrode.

Construction of γ-MnS/α-MnS hetero-phase junction for high-performance sodium-ion batteries

Kongyao Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, a unique and effective hetero-phase junction (HPJ) strategy is proposed for sodium-ion storage using manganese sulfide (MnS) as electrode material. The hollow MnS spheres with gamma/alpha HPJ are achieved through high-temperature induced phase transformation. Theoretical calculation shows the improved ion absorption ability and electronic conductivity of the gamma/alpha HPJ compared to pure gamma-MnS. Experimental results reveal the HPJ-modified MnS exhibits superior electrochemical performance in sodium-ion batteries.
