High-efficiency adsorption of elemental mercury from flue gas by K-intercalated 1T&2H MoS2

Jie Wei et al.

Summary: This study used K intercalation to partially convert commercial molybdenum disulfide into a more effective adsorbent for capturing Hg-0 in coal-fired flue gas. Experimental results showed that the removal efficiency of Hg-0 reached 90.5% when the K ratio was 2:1, an improvement of about 40% compared to the original molybdenum disulfide. Long-term experiments also demonstrated the stability of the K intercalated sample. The intercalation process increased the interlayer spacing, allowing for better adsorption of Hg-0. This research provides a promising method for capturing Hg-0 in coal-fired flue gas.

Phase evolution and structural modulation during in situ lithiation of MoS2, WS2 and graphite in TEM

Chanchal Ghosh et al.

Summary: The new observations reveal that the intercalation mechanism at the nanoscale is fundamentally different from existing models, driven by nonuniform phase distributions. Direct structure imaging of 2H and 1T dual-phase microstructures in lithiated MoS2 and WS2, along with localized chemical segregation, confirms the presence of fully lithiated nanoscale domains.

Design of an intercalated Nano-MoS2 hydrophobic catalyst with high rim sites to improve the hydrogenation selectivity in hydrodesulfurization reaction

Kun Sun et al.

Summary: By intercalating amine groups into nano-MoS2, the hydrophobic catalyst exhibited higher activity and selectivity in hydrodesulfurization reactions. The intercalated hydrophobic nano-MoS2 catalyst has increased number of active sites and shows good stability in catalytic cycles.
