The influence of porous structure on the corrosion behavior and biocompatibility of bulk Ti-based metallic glass

Peng Du et al.

Summary: In this study, a porous Ti45Zr10Cu31Pd10Sn4 bulk metallic glass (BMG) was developed using a one-step SPS method to mimic the biomechanical properties of natural bone. The research findings demonstrate that the porous BMG exhibits excellent corrosion resistance and biocompatibility.

Failure behavior and criteria of metallic glasses

Yan Chen et al.

Summary: Metallic glasses are a promising class of materials with excellent mechanical properties, but their brittle failure at room temperature and complicated fracture behavior make their applications limited. Recent studies have made significant progress in understanding the failure behavior of metallic glasses, including the discovery of fracture mechanisms and the establishment of failure criteria. However, there are still outstanding issues that need to be further clarified.

Tailoring microstructure of metallic glass for delocalized plasticity by pressure annealing: Forward and inverse studies

Y. Tang et al.

Summary: Pressure annealing has the potential to tailor the microstructure and mechanical behavior of metallic glasses, as demonstrated through a combination of experiments, simulations, and machine learning in this study. The transition of deformation mode from localized to delocalized in pressure-annealed metallic glasses is mainly governed by variations in atomic packing structure induced by pressure annealing, providing insights into fine-tuning their mechanical properties.
