Screening methods for sensitivity analysis applied to thin composite laminated structures

Gianluca De Zanet et al.

Summary: A novel implementation of statistical screening methods for sensitivity analysis on composites is proposed in this study to assess the effect of uncertainties on the behavior of the model. The results show that screening techniques can provide subsets of influential parameters with low computational cost for various applications.

Dynamic interferometric measurements of thermally-induced deformations on telescope based on high-strain composite tape-springs

Gianluca De Zanet et al.

Summary: This paper presents two inexpensive methods, based on strain gauges and laser interferometry, to assess the thermal expansion properties of thin carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) tape-springs. The strain gauge technique exploits the thermal output characteristics of the sensors, while the interferometry system captures displacements and tilts to measure the thermal expansion of the structure.
