Construction of surface oxygen vacancies by bimetallic doping combined with ellagic acid modification to enhance the photocatalytic degradation of ethinyl estradiol by TiO2

Yunning Chen et al.

Summary: In this paper, two surface oxygen vacancy-rich TiO2 composite photocatalysts were successfully constructed using different methods. The excellent photocatalytic performance of Nd-Fe-(D-Vo)TiO2 was attributed to its doping energy and surface oxygen vacancies. The bonding of ellagic acid (EA) to the surface of TiO2 further improved the visible light absorption and photocatalytic performance, and Nd-Fe-(D-Vo)TiO2@EA achieved a high degradation degree of ethinyl estradiol.

Unmasking the Critical Role of the Ordering Degree of Bimetallic Nanocatalysts on Oxygen Reduction Reaction by In Situ Raman Spectroscopy

Heng-Quan Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of ordering degree on the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) by using in situ Raman spectroscopy on AuCu bimetallic nanocatalysts (BNs) with varying degrees of ordering. The results showed that highly ordered AuCu BNs exhibited improved activity, surpassing that of benchmark Pt/C. Direct Raman spectroscopic evidence confirmed that the active site is the combination site of Au and Cu. Additionally, the ordered site showed lower affinity to *OH, making it more favorable for ORR. This work deepens the understanding of the importance of ordering degree on BNs and provides guidance for the design of improved catalysts.

Enhancing Tumor Catalytic Therapy by Co-Catalysis

Jiacai Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, a co-catalytic concept was introduced to enhance the efficacy of Fenton reactions in tumor catalytic therapy by dispersing single-atom iron species on two-dimensional molybdenum disulfide nanosheets. The iron species act as active sites for triggering the Fenton reactions, while the sulfur vacancies on the nanosheets promote hydroxyl radical production. Moreover, the nanosheets also serve as a co-catalyst to accelerate the conversion of iron ions and promote the overall catalytic process. The study demonstrates the feasibility of applying this co-catalytic concept to improve anticancer efficacy both in vitro and in vivo.
