Summary: A highly efficient and low-cost trifunctional electrocatalyst, FeNiP-NPHC, was fabricated via a hydrothermal-pyrolysis-phosphidation procedure. The FeNiP-NPHC showed superior performance in ORR, HzOR, and HER in alkaline seawater, benefiting from the strong coupling effect among FeP, FeNi2P, and N, P co-doped carbon, as well as the unique hierarchical structure. Density functional theory functions indicated that the three-phase heterojunction interface of FeNiP-NPHC effectively adjusted the d-band center and electronic structure, contributing to the optimized electrocatalytic performance. The concept of using FeNiP-NPHC as a trifunctional electrocatalyst was successfully demonstrated in the self-assembled DHzFC for OHzS in alkaline seawater.
