Highly Sensitive Tin-Lead Perovskite Photodetectors with Over 450 Days Stability Enabled by Synergistic Engineering for Pulse Oximetry System

Lijuan He et al.

Summary: A multifunctional additive, 4-amino-2,3,5,6-tetrafluorobenzoic acid (ATFBA), is used to improve the stability and performance of Sn-Pb perovskite photodetectors. ATFBA passivates surface defects and inhibits the oxidation of Sn2+ through hydrogen bonds and chelation coordination. The photodetector exhibits a high responsivity of 0.52 A W-1 and a specific detectivity of 5.34 x 10(12) Jones at 850 nm, remaining 97% of its initial responsivity over 450 days. Integrated into a pulse oximetry sensor visualization system, the photodetector accurately measures blood oxygen saturation and heart rate with less than 2% error.

Yamin Xu et al.

Summary: By using polymerizable methyl acrylate (MCE) as a dopant in perovskite thin film deposition, a polymer network is formed to prevent water permeation and crystal expansion, leading to improved stability and heat tolerance of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Additionally, MCE can coordinate with Pb2+ ions during crystallization, resulting in preferred crystal orientations and suppressed nonradiative recombination.

Rationalizing the Effect of Polymer-Controlled Growth of Perovskite Single Crystals on Optoelectronic Properties

Nishi Parikh et al.

Summary: Significant progress has been made in improving and modulating the optoelectronic properties of single-crystal metal halide perovskites (MHPs) through polymer-assisted techniques. However, the optoelectrical properties induced by polymers need to be carefully considered. In this study, methylammonium lead triiodide (MAPbI3) single crystals were synthesized using polyethylene glycol (PEG) and polystyrene (PS) polymers, and their electrical properties were studied. It was found that PEG-assisted single crystals showed fewer defects and lower photocurrent compared to the PS-assisted ones.

Summary: While the passivation effect of polymers with large and small dipole moments on MAPbI(3) perovskite films is negligible, they can significantly improve the stability of photovoltaic devices under continuous light irradiation. The additives are able to strongly suppress ion migration, enhancing the electrical-field stress tolerance of perovskite solar cells.

Soft Polymer-Organolead Halide Perovskite Films for Highly Stretchable and Durable Photodetectors with Pt-Au Nanochain-Based Electrodes

Avi Mathur et al.

Summary: Incorporating polymer chains into MAPbI3 films alters their mechanical modulus and viscoelastic nature, resulting in highly stretchable and stable perovskite devices when combined with flexible nanochain electrodes. The polymer-MAPbI3 devices exhibit ultralow dark currents and high light switching ratios, maintaining a significant percentage of performance even after prolonged cycling. The viscoelastic properties and lower modulus of the polymer improve energy dissipation in the devices, enhancing their durability compared to MAPbI3 films.

Enhanced efficiency and stability of perovskite solar cell by adding polymer mixture in perovskite photoactive layer

Min Zhong et al.

Summary: The key to commercialization of organic-inorganic lead halide perovskite solar cells is to achieve high photoelectric conversion efficiency and long-term stability. By incorporating a polymer mixture of PVP and PEG into the precursor solution, the PCE of PSCs can be significantly improved with better air stability, attributed to the synergistic effect of the polymer mixture on perovskite structure and ion migration. This work provides an effective additive to enhance both efficiency and stability of PSCs for commercial applications in high humidity environments.

Summary: The molecular weight of polymer chains plays a crucial role in enhancing the stability and electro-optical performance of polymer-perovskite films. The optimal performance is achieved with the use of medium-length chains, which affect the crystallization kinetics, perovskite grain size, ion migration, and electronic charge conduction. Further characterization shows a three-layer architecture in the polymer-perovskite films, with nanoscale polymer-rich top and bottom layers.

Improving Thermal Stability of Perovskite Solar Cells by Suppressing Ion Migration Using Copolymer Grain Encapsulation

Yuchen Zhou et al.

Summary: The addition of a polystyrene-co-polyacrylonitrile (SAN) copolymer can significantly enhance the thermal stability of organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites (OIHPs) and improve the stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) by suppressing the migration of organic cations. The study shows that incorporating SAN within the perovskite layer leads to superior thermal stability compared to pure perovskite, with only a small decrease in power conversion efficiency even after continuous thermal aging. This research suggests a promising potential of using polymer grain encapsulation for enhancing thermal stability of OIHPs and their solar cell performance by suppressing the out-diffusion of cationic organic components.
