Co-treatment with miR-21-5p inhibitor and Aurora kinase inhibitor reversine suppresses breast cancer progression by targeting sprouty RTK signaling antagonist 2

Yue Zhang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the mechanism of action of reversine, with or without miR-21-5p, in breast cancer progression. The results showed that combination of miR-21-5p inhibitor and reversine had a synergistic effect by regulating SPRY2 expression, thereby limiting breast cancer progression.

Construction of Nanocarriers Based on Endogenous Cell Membrane and Their Application in Nanomedicine

Yingshu Guo et al.

Summary: This paper provides a comprehensive summary on the construction methods of endogenous membrane biomimetic nanocarriers (EMBNs), including a simple method for preparing membrane proteins. EMBNs are classified based on different cell membranes. The unique advantages of EMBNs in nanomedicine are introduced, providing a new approach for the development of multifunctional nanoparticles.

Tumour-derived extracellular vesicle membrane hybrid lipid nanovesicles enhance siRNA delivery by tumour-homing and intracellular freeway transportation

Xin Zhou et al.

Summary: This study successfully isolated TDEV membranes from hepatocellular carcinoma cells and fabricated innovative TDEV membrane hybrid lipid nanovesicles (LEVs) for precise delivery to tumors and efficient siRNA transfection. The LEVs, equipped with 'homing' targeting ability, showed improved siRNA delivery efficiency compared to liposomes. In animal experiments, siRNA loaded LEVs demonstrated enhanced antitumor efficacy in hepatocellular carcinoma tumors.

Gene-engineered exosomes-thermosensitive liposomes hybrid nanovesicles by the blockade of CD47 signal for combined photothermal therapy and cancer immunotherapy

Lili Cheng et al.

Summary: The designed hybrid therapeutic nanovesicles, hGLV, based on CD47 immune checkpoint blockade demonstrated long blood circulation, improved macrophage-mediated phagocytosis of tumor cells by blocking CD47 signal, targeted homologous tumors in mice effectively for preferential accumulation at tumor sites. Furthermore, hGLV loaded with photothermal agent achieved excellent photothermal therapy (PTT) in eliminating tumors, inducing immunogenic cell death, generating tumor-associated antigens, and promoting immune responses with the help of co-encapsulated immune adjuvant. Such hybrid nanovesicles show promise in drug delivery for cancer treatment.

Targeted inhibition of SIRT6 via engineered exosomes impairs tumorigenesis and metastasis in prostate cancer

Qing Han et al.

Summary: SIRT6 expression is positively correlated with prostate cancer progression, and its loss significantly suppresses proliferation and metastasis of prostate cancer cells. Delivery of siRNA through engineered exosomes can effectively inhibit SIRT6 and consequently inhibit tumor growth and metastasis.
