Perovskite light-emitting diodes

Azhar Fakharuddin et al.

Summary: Light-emitting diodes based on halide perovskites have achieved significant progress in recent years, with external quantum efficiencies surpassing 23%. However, their practical application is still limited due to factors such as low efficiency in blue-emitting devices, inability to access emission wavelengths above 800 nm, decreased external quantum efficiency at high current density, lack of understanding of the electric field's effect on mobile ions in perovskite materials, and short device lifetimes. This review explores the development of perovskite light-emitting diodes, examining the key challenges in creating efficient and stable devices.

Amine-Terminated Carbon Dots Linking Hole Transport Layer and Vertically Oriented Quasi-2D Perovskites through Hydrogen Bonds Enable Efficient LEDs

Wei Dong et al.

Summary: Close attention to the interfaces of solution-processed metal halide perovskite-based light-emitting devices is crucial for optimal performance. This study demonstrates a hydrogen-bond-assisted interface using ultrasmall amine-terminated carbon dots to enhance the interaction between the hole transport layer and the hybrid lead bromide perovskite emitting layer, resulting in improved hole injection efficiency and orientation of quasi-2D perovskite crystals. The LEDs based on quasi-2D perovskites exhibit significantly higher external quantum efficiency, brightness, and longevity.

Post-synthesis of Lewis acid-base adducts as thermally activated delayed fluorescence radical emitters for color-tunable displays and encryption via inkjet printing

Hengjia Liu et al.

Summary: Color-tunable luminescent compounds were synthesized using solid-state mechanical grinding or solution blending. A triazine-based fluorescent host as Lewis base and a typical Lewis acid tris(pentafluorophenyl)borane were used. The compounds demonstrated charge transfer emission and radical nature through the binding of lone pairs of electrons on the triazine group to the Lewis acid. Triplet exciton up-conversion was achieved through reverse intersystem crossing, resulting in high external quantum efficiency in organic light emitting diodes. The emission color could be precisely regulated from deep-blue to orange-red.

Enhanced flexibility and stability of PEDOT:PSS electrodes through interfacial crosslinking for flexible organic light-emitting diodes

Lihui Liu et al.

Summary: The study introduces a facile and effective strategy of interfacial crosslinking by incorporating polyethyleneimine ethoxylated (PEIE) onto the surface to enhance the flexibility and stability of PEDOT:PSS electrodes with high transparency and conductivity. This approach significantly improves the flexibility and stability of the electrodes, attributing to the interfacial crosslinking between PEIE and PSS, ultimately leading to enhanced current efficiency in OLEDs based on the modified electrodes.
