Depth of discharge characteristics and control strategy to optimize electric vehicle battery life

Sang-Jun Park et al.

Summary: In order to comply with the global low-carbon green growth policy, the automobile industry is shifting from internal combustion engine to electric vehicles that use high-Ni cathode active materials with high energy density to prioritize mileage per charge. However, the high-Ni active material presents poor cycle characteristics due to impurities generated by cation mixing and structural instability. This study improved the energy efficiency and safety of the battery by controlling the depth of discharge (DOD) according to the state of health (SOH) of the battery and found that DOD70 at 100-90% SOH and DOD60 at 90-80% SOH were the most effective in terms of cycle characteristics and safety.

Diamine molecules double lock-link structured graphene oxide sheets for high-performance sodium ions storage

Yu-Shan Zhang et al.

Summary: Graphite, traditionally used in lithium-ion batteries, faces limitations due to its small interlayer spacing for sodium-ion insertion/extraction. An emerging approach involving chain-like H2N(CH2)xNH(2) between graphene oxide layers expands the interlayer spacing, enhances structure stability, and achieves excellent sodium storage performance.
