Nanowires/nanohelices hybrid carbon aerogels as the lightweight and hydrophobic microwave absorbers with excellent electrothermal properties

Summary: In order to prolong the lifespan of electronic equipment and protect human health from electromagnetic pollution, lightweight microwave absorption materials (MAMs) with hydrophobicity and electrothermal properties need to be developed urgently. In this study, nanowires/nanohelices hybrid carbon (CNWs/CNHs) aerogels were fabricated by growing and carbonizing nanohelices in a bacterial cellulose (BC) matrix, forming a conductive network. The detailed structure and microwave absorption mechanism of the CNWs/CNHs aerogels were investigated systematically. The optimal CNWs/CNHs aerogels exhibited excellent microwave absorption intensity and broad absorption bandwidth, as well as self-cleaning function and good electrothermal conversion performance, making them suitable for practical applications in complex low-temperature environments.

Stretching induced alignment of graphene nanoplatelets in polyurethane films for superior in-plane thermal conductivity and electromagnetic interference shielding

Hygroscopic holey graphene aerogel fibers enable highly efficient moisture capture, heat allocation and microwave absorption

Intelligent Off/On Switchable Microwave Absorption Performance of Reduced Graphene Oxide/VO2 Composite Aerogel

Summary: Intelligent microwave absorption materials with dynamically adjustable microwave absorption performance have great significance in future civil and military applications. A new type of reduced graphene oxide/VO2 composite aerogels has been developed, which exhibits switchable microwave absorption performance based on the phase change behavior of VO2. The electrical conductivity and permittivity of the composite material change significantly with temperature, resulting in off/on switchable microwave absorption performance. The composite material can switch between two modes, on to off and off to on, as temperature increases, and it demonstrates good cycling stability. Moreover, the maximum changes in effective absorption bands and RL values during the switch process exceed most current reports.

Light-weight, low-loading and large-sheet reduced graphene oxide for high-efficiency microwave absorber

Summary: This study prepared a series of large-sheet GO using a thermal reduction method and investigated their MA properties. The results showed that the MA performance of rGO was related to the reduction degree and the size of the sheet. Large sheet graphene was more likely to form a conductive network, reducing the filler loading. By mixing rGO with different reduction degrees, the reflection loss and absorption bandwidth were significantly improved, while the loading was only 1.5 wt%.

Anisotropic electromagnetic absorption of the aligned Ti3C2Tx MXene/RGO nanocomposite foam

Polyimide-based graphene composite foams with hierarchical impedance gradient for efficient electromagnetic absorption

The optimized PI-GP-rGO composite foam exhibits a minimum reflection loss of -32.87 dB with an effective bandwidth of 6.22 GHz (8.26-14.48 GHz) at 4.0 mm thickness.
