Highly precise Ti/Pt/Cr/Au thin-film temperature sensor embedded in a microfluidic device

Jie-Jun Wang et al.

Summary: A multilayer resistive temperature sensor (Ti/Pt/Cr/Au) was proposed and investigated for precise temperature measurement in microfluidic devices. The sensor exhibited excellent stability and sensitivity during the annealing process, with through-thickness migration of chromium and partial depletion of the adhesive layer. The capability of the sensor to detect sudden temperature changes caused by bubble effects is significant for microfluidic devices.

Pumping of electrolyte with mobile liquid metal droplets driven by continuous electrowetting: A full-scaled simulation study considering surface-coupled electrocapillary two-phase flow

Weiyu Liu et al.

Summary: Liquid metal (LM) combines the advantages of solid conductors and rheological fluids, providing new opportunities in the construction of flexible microelectronic and fluidic devices. Continuous electrowetting (CEW) is used to manipulate LM droplets in a buffer medium by driving bipolar counterions to reduce the surface tension at the LM/electrolyte interface. Through this mechanism, LM can induce unidirectional pumping of electrolytes and translate within a device channel, showing potential in the design of smart electrokinetic frameworks.
