Photocatalytic syngas production using conjugated organic polymers

Zhiwei Fu et al.

Summary: A series of linear conjugated polymers have been reported to promote photocatalytic CO2 reduction in water, with two photocatalysts containing dibenzo[b,d]thiophene sulfone found to be the most active materials. The co-polymer P7 had the highest rate for producing CO and H-2, while the homopolymer of dibenzo[b,d]thiophene sulfone had a lower CO production rate but higher H-2 production rate. Varying the amount of residual palladium in the photocatalyst can lead to different ratios of H-2 to CO in the syngas produced.
