Noise-based Enhancement for Foveated Rendering

Taimoor Tariq et al.

Summary: Foveated rendering is a technique that takes advantage of human visual sensitivity to reduce the spatial resolution of synthesized images for the periphery. This study introduces a novel approach that replaces undetectable but unresolved frequencies with carefully tuned procedural noise, leading to improved performance of the rendering system. The method achieves high frame rates and is suitable for real-time foveated rendering systems for VR and AR applications.
