Produced Water Treatment and Valorization: A Techno-Economical Review

Ramon Sanchez-Rosario et al.

Summary: In recent years, environmental concerns have driven energy companies to modify their industrial activities for greater environmental stewardship. This review discusses the challenges of managing and treating flowback and produced waters in the unconventional oil and gas extraction process, focusing on the most difficult constituents to remove and their environmental impact if left untreated. It also explores the opportunities and feasibility of repurposing produced water for alternative applications and extracting valuable metals using commercially available technologies.

Numerical Modeling and Analysis of Harvesting Atmospheric Water Using Porous Materials

Sadeem S. Alkinani et al.

Summary: Harvesting water from the atmosphere using porous materials is a new method for generating fresh water. This research presents a mathematical model to simulate and assess water moisture absorption in porous materials. The model accurately predicts the water content during the absorption process, showing that a shallower depth leads to a quicker absorption process.
