Whose bodies are they? Conceptualising reproductive violence against adolescents in Ethiopia, Malawi and Zambia

Malvern Tatenda Chiweshe et al.

Summary: The study examines the experiences of adolescents seeking abortion-related care in three African countries through a lens of violence, revealing coercion, control, and punishment in their sexual and reproductive health. These experiences of reproductive violence result in adolescents lacking control over their own bodies, limited decision-making power in regards to sexuality and contraception, and vulnerability to further perpetuation of reproductive violence.

Determinants of women's preferred and actual abortion provision locations in Nigeria

Meagan E. Byrne et al.

Summary: The study in Nigeria found that women prefer to use clinical sources for abortion care, such as government or private hospitals. Privacy, convenience, and recommendations from others are key factors driving women's preferences. However, barriers like cost, distance, and privacy prevent many women from using their preferred provider/location.

Conducting proportional meta-analysis in different types of systematic reviews: a guide for synthesisers of evidence

Timothy Hugh Barker et al.

Summary: Proportional meta-analysis is an increasingly common technique for synthesizing single group data, sharing similarities with comparative meta-analysis. However, there is a scarcity of methodological guidance available to assist synthesisers of evidence in the conduct of proportional meta-analysis in systematic reviews.

Understanding abortion seeking care outside of formal health care settings in Cape Town, South Africa: a qualitative study

Jane Harries et al.

Summary: The study found that although abortion is legal in South Africa, women still face barriers to safe and legal abortion services when dealing with unintended pregnancies. Women's concerns about negative attitudes and judgment from healthcare providers lead them to seek abortion services outside of the formal healthcare sector.
