Pre-test analysis for definition of steam injection tests through multi-hole sparger in PANDA facility

Xicheng Wang et al.

Summary: The Pressure Suppression Pool is a passive safety feature in BWR and AP reactors that condenses steam to prevent overpressure. Predictive models are needed for analyzing reactor pool transients, and this study used a computational fluid dynamics code to implement Effective Heat Source and Effective Momentum Source models. Pre-test analysis was conducted to select conditions for testing the thermal stratification and mixing of the pool under different steam injection regimes.

Two-zone stratified wetwell model development and implementation for RELAP-7

Jack Cavaluzzi et al.

Summary: A stratified wetwell model has been developed for the RELAP-7 code to accurately capture thermal stratification. The model assumes that a buoyant plume transports heat and mass from the steam injection site to the upper water zone, with validation results showing similar trends to experimental data.

Experimental study on the influence of buoyancy on steam bubble condensation at low steam mass flux

Qingchuan Yang et al.

Summary: The study found that at low steam mass flux, the pressure oscillation frequency and amplitude of vertical downward steam jet are smaller, which is beneficial for equipment safety. Considering the influence of buoyancy, the pressure oscillation frequency changes, but the prediction errors are within an acceptable range.

Characteristics of pool thermal stratification induced by steam injected through a vertical blow down pipe under different vessel pressures

Xinxing Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the characteristics of pool thermal stratification induced by steam jet condensation and the corresponding evolution patterns. It also highlights the turbulence motion in the thermocline layer, which drives the thermocline moving downwards.
