Curcumin Chemoprevention Reduces the Incidence of Braf Mutant Colorectal Cancer in a Preclinical Study

Alexandra M. Kane et al.

Summary: In this preclinical study, an improved formulation of curcumin was found to significantly reduce the number of invasive carcinomas in a murine model of Braf mutant colorectal cancer, despite not reducing the incidence of serrated lesions. The study supports further investigation of curcumin as a chemopreventive agent for colorectal cancer arising via the serrated pathway.

Curcumin and Its Modified Formulations on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD): The Story So Far and Future Outlook

Adhimoolam Karthikeyan et al.

Summary: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the small intestine and colon, including ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD), which are major factors for the development of colon cancer. Current treatments involve synthetic drugs and monoclonal antibodies with side effects and high relapse rates. Recent studies suggest that curcumin derived from turmeric may be a potential therapeutic agent for IBD, effectively reducing clinical relapse in patients.

Skin wound healing promoted by novel curcumin-loaded micelle hydrogel

Ping Zhou et al.

Summary: The study developed a topical curcumin gel to promote skin wound healing, showing significant improvement in wound healing and acceleration of re-epithelialization and collagen fiber formation. The injectable hyaluronic acid gel complex Cur/HA is a promising candidate material for wound dressing to enhance healing.
