Summary: This study uses a turbulence model to simulate flow fields under different boundary conditions to determine the cooling characteristics at various impinging Reynolds numbers and nozzle-target spacing. The Nusselt number profiles show varying trends under different conditions, with local heat transfer being significantly influenced by nozzle-target spacing. The correlation between heat flux parameter and impinging Reynolds number is established to obtain a semi-empirical prediction.

A computational analysis on convective heat transfer for impinging slot nanojets onto a moving hot body

Hakan Cosanay et al.

Summary: This study performs computational analysis on the steady flow and heat transfer due to a slot nanojet impingement onto a heated moving body, considering the unsteady flow effects and interactions of multiple impinging jets. The finite volume method was used for numerical simulation, studying the influence of various parameters on convective heat transfer characteristics in the transient regime. The findings suggest that the flow field and heat transfer become complicated due to the interaction of multiple impinging jets with the movement of the hot body, with higher heat transfer rates achieved at higher Reynolds numbers and minimal impact from nanoparticle inclusion on flow friction.

Thermoelectric Generation with Impinging Nano-Jets

Fatih Selimefendigil et al.

Summary: The study examines the impact of nanofluid jets on thermoelectric generation, finding that increasing jet Reynolds numbers and nanoparticle volume fractions can enhance power and efficiency. The horizontal distance between the jet inlet and the thermoelectric device also affects power generation and conversion efficiency, with smaller distances resulting in higher power generation but the optimum value for efficiency being at zh = 2.5ws. Regression models are developed for predicting generated power and conversion efficiencies.

Semi-analytical study of impingement cooling of metal foam heat sinks of CPUs with air and hydrogen jets under LTNE condition

Salar Soltangheis et al.

Summary: This paper presents a mathematical model for heat transfer in a heat sink covered by an open-cell metal foam under impinging jet flow. The differences between numerical predictions under the local thermal equilibrium (LTE) and local thermal non-equilibrium (LTNE) conditions on flow and temperature distributions were analyzed. It was shown that the effective thermal conductivity ratio significantly affects the deviation between LTNE and LTE models. Additionally, the effects of critical dimensionless parameters on the flow and heat transfer characteristics were investigated, showing that cooling performance of the metal foam can be improved by adjusting Reynolds and Darcy numbers and heat sink aspect ratio.

Vincenzo Bianco et al.

Summary: The study focuses on impinging slot jets in a confined channel filled with metal foam saturated with nanofluids. Results show that convective heat transfer coefficients increase with Peclet number and decrease with volumetric concentration, with different behavior observed for surface heat transfer coefficient. Correlations for average total Nusselt number in terms of porosity and volumetric concentration are proposed.

Three-dimensional turbulent forced convection around a hot cubic block exposed to a cross-flow and an impinging jet

Bouziane Boudraa et al.

Summary: This numerical study investigates the effects of Reynolds number ratio on flow and heat transfer in a turbulent forced convection flow around a hot cubic block. The results show that heat transfer increases with an increase in Reynolds number ratio, and better cooling occurs at the top of the cube with higher speed of the impinging jet. Adjusting the channel height and jet axis location can also improve heat transfer. The simulations are compared with experimental data using different turbulence models.
