An In Vitro and In Silico Study of Antioxidant Properties of Curcuminoid N-alkylpyridinium Salts: Initial Assessment of Their Antitumoral Properties

Oscar Forero-Doria et al.

Summary: In this study, curcuminoid compounds with ionic liquid characteristics were synthesized and their antioxidant capacity was evaluated. Some derivatives showed higher antioxidant activity than curcumin. Computational calculations provided insights into the structure-antioxidant properties relationship. In addition, cell experiments demonstrated the inhibitory effect of these compounds on cancer cell migration.

Synergistic effects of curcumin and its analogs with other bioactive compounds: A comprehensive review

Maryam Sadat Hosseini-Zare et al.

Summary: Curcumin, a natural compound extracted from the plant Curcuma longa, is abundant in the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia and has been widely used in pharmacological activities. Despite some limitations, curcumin has been found to induce apoptosis signaling and block cell proliferation signaling pathways. Current research is focused on studying the health benefits of curcumin and developing methods to enhance its bioavailability, as well as incorporating it into food products. Combining chemotherapy and molecular hybridization are basic strategies used in the treatment of various health conditions.

Acute oral toxicity assessment of ethanolic extracts of Antidesma bunius (L.) Spreng fruits in mice

Maria Nilda M. Munoz et al.

Summary: The study found that ethanolic extracts of Bignay fruit have no acute oral toxicity in ICR mice, showing no mortality or adverse effects. There were no changes in behavior, respiratory or neurological status, and body weight and consumption remained stable during the 14-day monitoring period. Hematological and biochemical parameters were within normal limits, and the LD50 is estimated to be greater than 2000 mg/kg. Analysis also identified active components of Bignay fruits and confirmed their safety in mice.
