CSR investment for a two-sided platform: Network externality and risk aversion

Wanying Wei et al.

Summary: The business of two-sided platforms such as online ride-sharing has grown rapidly, but complying with CSR regulations is a challenge, especially on the supply side. This paper develops a game-theoretic model for a two-sided platform and analyzes the effects of network externalities and risk aversion on CSR investment decision-making. The results show that network externalities may not necessarily stimulate CSR investment, while risk aversion consistently encourages CSR investment.

Impacts of leadership on corporate social responsibility management in multi-tier supply chains

Weihua Liu et al.

Summary: As supply chains become more complex and multi-tiered, managing corporate social responsibility (CSR) of lower-tier suppliers becomes more challenging. This paper develops a game theory model to explore the optimal strategies for reducing CSR violations and the impact of supply chain leadership. The findings suggest that direct control of suppliers may be more effective than the delegation strategy in certain situations.

Decisions for Blockchain Adoption and Information Sharing in a Low Carbon Supply Chain

Tianjian Yang et al.

Summary: This study examines the adoption of blockchain technology and information sharing in a low-carbon supply chain. The results suggest that supply chain members are more likely to adopt blockchain technology in the absence of sharing or in voluntary sharing scenarios. Mandatory sharing leads to participation in blockchain when the value-added service efficiency exceeds a threshold value.

A revised sales rebate contract with effort-dependent demand: a channel coordination approach

Jafar Heydari et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the simultaneous coordination of order quantity and sales effort decisions in a supplier/retailer system with stochastic effort-dependent demand. The proposed model aims to achieve a Pareto-efficient solution for both channel members and a revised sales rebate contract is developed for channel coordination. Numerical experiments and sensitivity analyses demonstrate that the proposed RSR contract leads to channel coordination and neutralizes adverse impacts of demand fluctuations on channel performance.

Effort exertion and contract design in collaborative product development with fairness concern

Xiaoming Gong et al.

Summary: This study examines the impact of fairness concerns on product development decisions between a focal firm and an external partner, finding that EP's fairness concern significantly affects decisions and may lead FF to change the contract. The study also reveals that, when the contract is endogenously decided, FF tends to develop the product independently and share a smaller revenue fraction with EP, while the existence of follow-up sales does not change FF's decision about whether to collaborate with EP.
