This editorial summarizes the papers in issue 18(1) (2023), including research on the environmental impact of online retailing, statistical downscaling of projected GDP, Bayesian estimation of spatial weight matrix, spatial non-parametric estimator for income convergence, estimation of interregional trade using gravity model, impact of immigrants on new arrival of immigrants, the relationship between market potential and wages, and the variation of female labor force participation rates.
This editorial summarizes the papers in issue 18(1) (2023). Thefirst paper sets out a game-theoreticduopolistic spatial model to investigate whether online retailing causes more transportation-relatedemissions than offline retailing. The second paper proposes a methodology for statistically downscalingprojected gross domestic product (GDP). The third paper presents a Bayesian approach for theestimation of a spatial weight matrix. The fourth paper proposes a two-step spatial non-parametricestimator for the distribution dynamics approach to study income convergence, extended with spatiallydependent error terms. Thefifth paper combines a gravity-RAS approach with the estimation of aneconometric gravity model when regional export and import totals are available but interregional tradedata are not. The sixth paper estimates the impact of country-specific immigrants settled in 611 Italianregions on the arrival of new immigrants in destination and adjacent regions. The seventh paperinvestigates the impact of the market potential of a region on individual wages. The eighth paper testswhether female labour force participation rates vary with past participation rates in their own andneighbouring counties
