A multi-national survey of experience and attitudes towards commencing home parenteral nutrition for patients with advanced cancer

M. Naghibi et al.

Summary: This study explored the views and experiences of international multi-disciplinary teams regarding home parenteral nutrition (HPN) in advanced cancer (AC) patients. The results showed that predicted survival was a key factor for initiating HPN, with most respondents requiring a predicted survival of at least 3 months. However, the majority of respondents were not confident in predicting overall survival in more than 50% of cases. Barriers to utilizing HPN in AC included colleagues' objections, lack of local expertise, and funding restrictions.
