Role of Percutaneous Transhepatic Biliary Drainage as an Adjunct to Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography

Nikita Verma et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the role of percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD) in patients with failed endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) or post-ERCP cholangitis. The results showed that PTBD successfully resolved cholangitis and acute kidney injury, and reduced bilirubin levels. This suggests that PTBD is an important drainage procedure in these patients.

Value of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio in evaluating response to percutaneous catheter drainage in patients with acute pancreatitis

Pankaj Gupta et al.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the value of white blood cell (WBC) count and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in predicting response to percutaneous catheter drainage (PCD) in patients with acute necrotizing pancreatitis (AP). The results showed that WBC and NLR can be used as simple tests to predict patients' response to PCD.

Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio is associated with 28-day mortality in patients with severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome

Yun Liu et al.

Summary: The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is significantly associated with the 28-day mortality in patients with severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS). NLR is an important independent predictor of 28-day mortality in SFTS patients.

Clinical Significance of the Neutrophil-Lymphocyte Ratio as an Early Predictive Marker for Adverse Outcomes in Patients with Acute Cholangitis

Summary: This study investigated the predictive value of the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in acute cholangitis and found that an elevated NLR is associated with severe acute cholangitis, shock, and positive blood culture. Additionally, serial NLR values can track the clinical course of acute cholangitis.

Summary: The study found that an elevated neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) at admission was associated with higher in-hospital mortality in older patients, and may serve as a surrogate marker of disease severity.

Summary: This study on severe acute cholangitis patients revealed that early recognition, timely antibiotic use, effective resuscitation, and minimally invasive biliary drainage can improve patient outcomes. Multiple organ failure is often associated with mortality in severe acute cholangitis, suggesting a need for further investigation into predictive risk factors for organ failure.
