Not Only the Intention to Complete: The Role of Action-Oriented Intentions in MOOC Completion

Tatiana Semenova

Summary: The study suggests that in MOOCs, strong positive action-oriented intentions have a significant relationship with behavior, and that the intent to watch lectures and complete tasks differ in their impact on course completion, with the former being less significant. Furthermore, the strong positive action-oriented intention to complete all tasks is a more powerful predictor of course completion compared to result-oriented intentions.

Dropout Time and Learners' Performance in Computer Programming MOOCs

Marili Room et al.

Summary: One of the main problems with MOOCs is the high dropout rate, with learners tending to drop out at the beginning of the course or before the project. It is recommended that learners choose courses at a suitable difficulty level and provide example topics to help them get started on projects.
