Implementation of systematic screening for anxiety and depression in cardiac rehabilitation: Real world lessons from a longitudinal study

Cecilie Lindstrom Egholm et al.

Summary: The study aimed to assess the implementation of anxiety and depression screening in cardiac rehabilitation and identify barriers and facilitators. The results showed considerable improvements in screening over the seven-year period, with implementation becoming more aligned to guidelines. However, there were significant variations in screening rates between different locations. Formal recommendations and monitoring played a role in pushing for adherence to guidelines, while activities aimed at strengthening staff knowledge and motivation also contributed to implementation.

Regional and age differences in specialised palliative care for patients with pancreatic cancer

Mathilde Adsersen et al.

Summary: Despite national recommendations, disparities in specialised palliative care admittance for pancreatic cancer patients exist in Denmark. From 2011 to 2018, more patients were admitted to SPC, but there were marked differences between regions of residence and age groups. The short period of time patients spend in SPC raises concerns about the integration of early palliative care in the Danish healthcare system for pancreatic cancer patients.
