Quantifying the health effects of exposure to non-exhaust road emissions using agent-based modelling (ABM)

Hyesop Shin

Summary: This paper presents an agent-based model called TRAPSim, which investigates the exposure to non-exhaust emissions and associated health effects on drivers and pedestrians in Seoul. The model follows the ODD protocol to document agent details and parameters, and provides codes and descriptions for reproducibility. The model's main parameters are extensively tested through sensitivity experiments and calibrated using air pollution monitoring networks in the city. The paper also includes instructions for model usage, potential artifacts, and configurations for submitting the model on the HPC cluster.

Characterization of Individual Tire and Road Wear Particles in Environmental Road Dust, Tunnel Dust, and Sediment

Michael Kovochich et al.

Summary: This study extends the analysis of TRWPs in environmental samples using a density separation and chemical mapping protocol. The identification and characterization of TRWPs are based on physical and elemental surface characteristics, as well as organic surface markers and resistance to heat-induced deformation. The size distribution of TRWPs in environmental samples increases with sample complexity, as determined by the SPA methodologies.
