Volatility in natural resources prices and economic performance: Evidence from BRICS economies

Jun Wen et al.

Summary: The study explores the relationship between natural resource price volatility and economic performance in the BRICS economies, finding that natural resource volatility, oil rents, natural gas rents, and green innovation positively influence economic performance in both short-run and long-run. Additionally, a bidirectional causal association is identified between the variables under discussion and economic performance. Recommendations include natural resources hedging, price freezing or ceiling, and promoting green innovation to improve economic performance and reduce natural resources price volatility.
