The Link Between Masculinity and Spatial Skills Is Moderated by the Estrogenic and Progestational Activity of Oral Contraceptives

This study explores the influence of combined oral contraceptives (OCs) on spatial skills and examines how self-perceived masculinity moderates the link with 3D mental rotations. The results show that the positive link between masculinity and 3D mental rotations is only present in naturally cycling women, suggesting that exogenous hormones in OCs alter this relationship. The findings highlight the importance of considering biological and psychosocial factors in explaining variation in spatial skills among women.
