An account of chronological computational investigations to ascertain the role of pn-pn bonding in influencing the Lewis acidity of BX3 (X = F, Cl, Br and I): Evolution of novel parameters and relegation of n-type back bonding concept

Ankita Sinha et al.

Summary: The experimentally observed Lewis acidity order of the boron trihalides has been a subject of chemical interest for decades. Computational studies suggest that the reorganisation energy of boron halides, rather than n-type back donation, plays a significant role in determining the Lewis acidity order.

Cooperative Effects between Hydrogen Bonds and C=O•••S Interactions in the Crystal Structures of Sulfoxides

Jorge Echeverria

Summary: The study revealed two main geometric topologies of noncovalent interactions between a carbonyl group and the sulfur atom of a sulfoxide group, with different contributions to the total interaction energy from electrostatics and charge transfer. Hydrogen bonds, with the sulfoxide acting as the hydrogen bond acceptor, played a crucial role in energy stabilization in all cases. Natural bond orbital and energy decomposition analysis were performed to understand the physical origin of these noncovalent interactions.

Enhancing the absorption of 1-chloro-1,2,2,2-tetrafluoroethane on carbon nanotubes: an ab initio study

Mohsen Doust Mohammadi et al.

Summary: The study found that germanium-doped silicon carbide nanotubes are the most favorable for adsorbing the HCFC-124 molecule, while pristine carbon nanotubes have the lowest adsorption energy. The adsorption on these nanotubes is driven by weak van der Waals forces, rather than active charge-transfer phenomena. Introducing dopant atoms can significantly improve the overall adsorption capability of the nanotubes.

The Adsorption of 1-Chloro-1,2,2,2-Tetrafluoroethane Onto the Pristine, Al-, and Ga-Doped Boron Nitride Nanosheet

Mohsen Doust Mohammadi et al.

Summary: Density functional techniques were utilized to investigate intermolecular interactions between gas molecules and doped boron nitride nanosheets, revealing significant changes in interactions when dopant atoms were introduced. It was predicted that aluminum-doped BNNS is the most desirable material for designing a sensitive nanosensor.

Mohsen Doust Mohammadi et al.

Summary: The feasibility of detecting the amantadine molecule onto the outer surface of pristine fullerene and decorated structures was carefully evaluated, shedding light on the nature of intermolecular interactions. Results indicate that the change in electronic properties can be utilized to design suitable nanocarriers.

Summary: An efficient algorithm for evaluating ESP was proposed, which showed comparable or better performance than some state-of-the-art codes for systems like dopamine and remdesivir. The algorithm exhibited good parallelization scaling and was able to evaluate ESP for a system with 4840 GTOs and 259,262 ESP points in 1874 seconds on ordinary hardware.
