What influences vulnerable road users' perceptions of autonomous vehicles? A comparative analysis of the 2017 and 2019 Pittsburgh surveys

Summary: This paper analyzes the perceptions and interactive experiences of vulnerable road users towards autonomous vehicles (AVs) in Pittsburgh. The findings show that vulnerable road users' perceived safety of AVs has increased over the years, while their acceptance of AVs remained stable. However, autonomous driving accidents have negatively impacted their perceptions of AVs. The study recommends policymakers to prioritize the safety and benefits of vulnerable road users in AV testing and to provide opportunities for the public to interact with AVs.

The Influence of Introducing Autonomous Vehicles on Conventional Transport Modes and Travel Time

Summary: This study explores the potential impacts of AVs on travel behavior using data from 8500 travelers and conducting simulations with different scenarios. The results show that replacing conventional transport modes with AVs can reduce travel time for travelers, and the value of travel time for AVs affects their usage and modal share differently.
