Current perspective on veterinary drug and chemical residues in food of animal origin

Attia H. Atta et al.

Summary: Due to the increasing demand for high-quality animal protein, it is necessary to protect animals from infectious diseases, leading to the increased use of veterinary therapeutics. However, the overuse and misuse of veterinary products can pose risks to human health, including the emergence of resistant strains of bacteria or parasites. This paper discusses possible sources of drug and chemical residues, the impact on human health, and methods for controlling and preventing veterinary drug residues in animal products.

Precise Hapten Design of Sulfonamides by Combining Machine Learning and 3D-QSAR Approaches

Yan-Ni Chen et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the relationship between the structures of sulfonamides and the cross-reactivity of a broad-specific mAb. Stable comparative molecular field assay (CoMFA) and precise machine learning models were constructed to guide the design of a new hapten with better properties. The advantages and disadvantages of different models were compared to identify the structural and physicochemical factors that affect mAb cross-reactivity.

A multiplex lateral flow immunochromatography assay for the quantitative detection of pyraclostrobin, myclobutanil, and kresoxim-methyl residues in wheat

Lu Lin et al.

Summary: We developed a lateral flow immunochromatography assay (LFIA) for the qualitative and quantitative detection of pyraclostrobin (PYR), myclobutanil (MYC), and kresoxim-methyl (KRE) in wheat. The LFIA had high specificity and sensitivity, and the cut-off values for the qualitative analysis were determined. The developed LFIA showed accurate and stable results, making it suitable for the analysis of PYR, MYC, and KRE residues in wheat.

Two binding epitopes modulating specificity of immunoassay for fl-agonist detection: Quantitative structure-activity relationship

Lanteng Wang et al.

Summary: This study developed a class-specific antibody immunoassay for detecting various fl-agonists and revealed critical binding epitopes on the fl-agonist hapten affecting antibody specificity through holographic and three-dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationship. The characteristics of substituents at different epitopes adjust antibody specificity.

Alternative Hapten Design for Zearalenone Immunoreagent Generation

Antonio Abad-Fuentes et al.

Summary: Appropriate hapten design and synthesis are critical for generating high-performance immunoreagents and developing sensitive and selective immunoanalytical methods. In this study, novel haptens of zearalenone were designed and evaluated for their structure-activity relationship. The results showed that modifying the hapten structure can affect antibody affinity and cross-reactivity, and changing the competing antigen structure can modify the immunoassay selectivity. These findings suggest that the immunochemical methods for zearalenone rapid analysis can still be improved in terms of sensitivity and selectivity.

Hapten Synthesis and Monoclonal Antibody Preparation for Simultaneous Detection of Albendazole and Its Metabolites in Animal-Origin Food

Shibei Shao et al.

Summary: A monoclonal antibody capable of simultaneously detecting ABZs was successfully obtained, with IC50 values of 0.20, 0.26, 0.77, and 10.5 ug/L for ABZ, ABZSO(2), ABZSO, and ABZNH(2)SO(2) in ic-ELISA under optimized conditions. The recognition profiles of the Mab indicated that hydrophobicity and conformation of characteristic group of molecules might be key factors influencing antibody recognition with analytes, as revealed by computational chemistry method. The developed ic-ELISA was proven to be practical by detecting ABZs in spiked milk, beef, and liver samples with satisfactory recoveries and coefficients of variation.
