Hospital-at-Home Interventions vs In-Hospital Stay for Patients With Chronic Disease Who Present to the Emergency Department A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Summary: The systematic review and meta-analysis explored the association between hospital-at-home interventions and patient outcomes for community-dwelling patients with chronic diseases. The results suggest that hospital-at-home interventions could serve as a viable substitute for in-hospital stays for emergency department patients with chronic diseases who receive home visits from a nurse or physician. While some outcomes showed heterogeneity, patients who received hospital-at-home interventions experienced lower levels of depression and anxiety compared to those who remained in the hospital.

It has the potential to enhance current HF care, improve quality of life for HF patients, and potentially reduce the burden of complications associated with hospitalisation, as well as implement more patient-centered care strategies.
