Yi Qiao et al.

Summary: The mismatch between capacitor-type and battery-type electrodes in lithium-ion capacitors (LICs) is addressed by using a 3D interconnected nitrogen-doped ultrathin carbon framework encapsulated with Fe2O3 nanoparticles. This approach improves the capacity and cycling performance of LICs by providing a stable structure, short electron transport length, and abundant active sites. The resulting LICs with 3DNC@Fe2O3-700 anode and cathode exhibit high energy density and excellent capacity retention after 5000 cycles. This work offers a solution to overcome the mismatch between anode and cathode for high-performance symmetric LICs.

Re-understanding the galvanostatic intermittent titration technique: Pitfalls in evaluation of diffusion coefficients and rational suggestions

Minyu Jia et al.

Summary: The chemical diffusion coefficient (D) is an important indicator for the diffusion kinetics of ions in electrode materials. However, there are flaws in the conventional tool, galvanostatic intermittent titration technique (GITT), used to test the D value, such as improper model usage and selection of parameters leading to significant differences in results. To improve accuracy, we have formulated standards and analyzed assumptions under different conditions. In addition, we have integrated special measures and new methods derived from GITT to enhance the test results.
