Investigation on various section GFRP profile strengthening concrete-filled GFRP tubular columns

Xiaoyong Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the behavior of circular winding concrete filled GFRP tubular columns with various inner section shapes. Through axial compression tests and numerical analysis, different parameters of columns were tested and analyzed. The failure mode, ultimate capacity, ductility, and stiffness of the columns were analyzed, and a calculation formula was proposed to predict the ultimate capacity of different section GFRP profile strengthening concrete-filled GFRP tubular columns. The formula was validated using a finite element model.

Fatigue of composite honeycomb sandwich panels under random vibration load

Mingze Ma et al.

Summary: The fatigue test of composite honeycomb sandwich panels under random vibration load was conducted in this study. The test results showed that the failure mode of the honeycomb sandwich structure under random vibration load was the same as that under constant-amplitude load. Based on the test results and the S-N curve of honeycomb sandwich panel under constant-amplitude load, a method was proposed to predict the fatigue life of composite honeycomb sandwich structures under random vibration load.

The Shear Behavior of Insulated Precast Concrete Sandwich Panels Reinforced with BFRP

Xia Liu et al.

Summary: This study conducted double shear tests on insulated PCSP specimens reinforced with BFRP connectors, and analyzed the effects of connector diameter, insulation thickness, installation angle, layout spacing, etc. on shear capacity. The shear capacity model proposed in this paper provides a favorable design option for insulated PCSP systems.

Bond-slip model of the CFRP-steel interface with the CFRP delamination failure

Yuyang Pang et al.

Summary: The bond-slip model of CFRP-steel bonded interface is crucial for predicting the bond behavior of CFRP-strengthened steel structures. Few scholars have investigated CFRP delamination failure based on the interfacial bond-slip model. Experimental data verified the accuracy of the model considering adhesive thickness and inter-laminar shear properties of the CFRP plate.

Experimental study on the bond behavior of the CFRP-steel interface under rapid loading

Yuyang Pang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the bond behavior of CFRP-steel interfaces by manufacturing a series of CFRP-steel single-shear specimens with different adhesive types and loading rates. The main mechanical properties of the joints were found to increase with loading rate. Different trends were observed in the ultimate load of the interfaces with different adhesive types as the loading rate increased.

Comparative Study of Damping on Pultruded GFRP and Steel Beams

Vitor Dacol et al.

Summary: The use of glass fibre reinforced polymer (GFRP) composites in civil engineering structures has grown significantly due to their high strength, low self-weight, and corrosion resistance. This study investigates the dynamic behavior of GFRP free-supported beams and compares them with steel beams to evaluate the benefits of using pultruded GFRP structures. Results show that GFRP has significantly higher damping capacity compared to steel, with similar frequencies, highlighting the damping qualities of the polymer-based composite material.
